Buck Mountain Botanicals Wound Aid for Pets is formulated with organic yarrow, Achillea millefolium, harvested in full bloom, dried and powdered. It is liberally applied to open bleeding, oozing or otherwise raw wounds. Yarrow is a hemostat -or blood stopper -it works best on lacerations and wounds, not scalpel incisions or clipped nails. It does work effectively to stop oozing sutured incisions.
It is anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and accelerates wound healing with reduced formation of scar tissue. Buck Mountain Botanicals Wound Aid is another one of our favorite products and works wonderfully as described above. Keep one on hand so it is there when needed!
Yarrow's use as a wound treatment is dated back to at least 1200 B.C. to the Trojan War. It was called "Herba militaris" because of its utility as a treatment of war wounds. It is a vulnerary (i.e. wound treatment). Its primary historical efficacy is as a hemostat, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, cell proliferator and mild analgesic.
