1). Daily Multi Plus
This is the supplement that provides the enzymes and probiotics necessary for proper digestion and immune system health. It also provides organic, whole food nutrition to improve the overall health of your dog or cat.
How much should I give?
Provide 1/2 teaspoon in each meal per 30 lbs. Mix with water so it is not dry. Serving size does not have to be exact. Err on the side of more rather that less.
How long should I provide this supplement?
This supplement should be given with every meal for the life of your pet.
2). Liver Tonic
Our Liver Tonic will help to reduce stress on the pancreas by improving bile production and secretion. Bile begins the process of breaking down fats (emulsify) and is produced by the liver and stored in the gallbladder.
How much should I give?
Provide 1 ml per 25 lbs three times daily. Squirt directly into mouth by pulling out lower lip at corner of mouth. Do not tilt head back because your pet can breath some in. If this is difficult dosage can be placed in a small amount of special food or even main meals if necessary. It is best to give away from meals when possible. When your animal’s condition improves you may be able to reduce the frequency to two times daily. On the other hand if your animal does not respond as hoped increase the dosage by 50% three times daily.
How long should I provide this supplement?
Use daily for one month then go on a 5 days on 2 days off schedule. Use this schedule for the life of your animal. If your animal shows a decline on off days you may have to give only one day off weekly or even use daily if necessary depending on your pet’s condition.
3). Pancreas Glandular
Pancreas glandular tissue provides bio-identical nutrients that will help to improve the health of the pancreas in a safe and natural manner.
How much should I give?
Provide 1/8 - 1/4 tsp (approx. 200 - 400 mg) per 20 lbs daily. Divide equally between meals if convenient. For small pets where dividing the dosage would be difficult just place in one meal.
How long should I provide this supplement?
This supplement should be given for the life of your pet.
4). Ox Bile Powder
The bile acids found in ox bile help to break down fats to reduce stress on the pancreas. In addition, the components of ox bile help to improve liver and gallbladder function while helping to prevent the accumulation of cholesterol particles that could form gallstones.
How much should I give?
Provide 1/32 tsp using the small scoop provided per 15 lbs of body weight with each meal. If feeding a dry food mix with some warm water.
How long should I provide this supplement?
This supplement should be given for the life of your pet.
Other Recommendations
Whole food diet
With a condition like Pancreatitis we highly recommend a home-prepared, whole food diet that can be either cooked or raw. Feeding your dog or cat in this manner will allow you to control what is included in the diet. At least initially meals should consist of smaller portions and spread out to three or four times per day to ease the burden on the stressed pancreas. Excessive fat and other foods that are noticed to contribute to digestive upset should be eliminated.
There are now many quality premixes to choose from to which you can add your own raw or cooked meat that make home-preparing easier. If you decide to make a homemade diet please research the proper way to do this and make sure to add a calcium source like our Seaweed Calcium. Of course, a commercial prepared raw food diet can be a good option as well as can be a high-quality, meat based canned food for cats if they won’t eat raw food (be careful to choose canned foods with little to no fish content for too many reasons to list here). For more information read our articles How to Feed Your Dog or How to Feed Your Cat that can be found in our Education section.
Diarrhea Relief
This is a very beneficial supplement for those animals with flare ups that include diarrhea. Herbs in this formula help to reduce inflammation and eliminate gas making your animal more comfortable. Keep some on hand so it’s available when you need it.
Herbal Digestive Tonic
Many animals we see are having problems with hypochloridia, or low stomach acid output. Feeding a kibble diet raises the alkalinity of your pet's stomach resulting in incomplete digestion, but dogs and cats can have problems properly digesting other foods as well. This contributes to many imbalances in the body like pancreatitis. Our Herbal Digestive Tonic is formulated with herbal bitters that stimulate digestive secretions to super-charge digestion lowering the workload on the pancreas.
Stomach Soother
Our clients love this formula. It works wonders to help animals with everything from stomach upset to lack of appetite. The organic herbs used are unique in their ability to eliminate gas and reduce nausea and stomach inflammation quickly.
Please Note:
The majority of our supplements are basically herbs and whole foods, so a little more or less will not harm your animal. When determining the dosage estimate as best you can for the weight of your animal from our suggested serving sizes.
